Post-Babymoon: Megèvefeatured

While pregnant, we are bombarded with recommendations of a babymoon before we fall down the parenting black hole. Well I think the post-babymoon is equally worth thinking about.

Having not been away just with Daddy B since honeymoon, we were seriously missing our “us time” (just as important as “me time” and “family time”), something that we are all guilty of due to challenging careers and even more challenging families.  It was time to take a break!

To say I love my skiing is an understatement, and due to pregnancy and the little ones I haven’t been able to indulge my passion over the last few years.

We decided to take a midweek break to Megève, in the French Alps.  Once I got over the anxiety of leaving my two precious princesses in the safe hands of the Grandparents (the unsung heroes in our life!), we made a speedy escape to the Alps and boy, they didn’t disappoint!

Perfect snow, sunshine, tree-line skiing and sipping champagne in the middle of the day made us feel a million miles away from home.  Although we missed the girls like crazy, thanks to Facetime we shared lots of our experience with them. Big D is now super-excited to go skiing with Mummy and Daddy next year.

Megève is the ideal resort for a short break with or without the family, only an hour away from Geneva – getting there is easy and stress free. There is skiing for everyone and non skiers would be entertained in the enchanting town with it’s wealth of stylish boutiques.

Mummy and Daddy returned home resolved to do this more often!

My Guide to Megève

Les Fermes de Marie – the most perfect, romantic, Alpine chocolate box of a hotel

La Taverne – Book early for this gastronomic delight

Le Refuge – situated in the middle of nowhere, with wonderful views

Le Lodge Park – Glam retreat serving great steak and sexy cocktails

(A lot of the best evening restaurants are outside of the main town – prepare for a pretty pricey cab ride.)

L’Alpette – Lunch time hotspot with a fab sun terrace

L’Ideal – Chic, high altitude, restaurant founded by the Rothschilds

La Folie Douce New to Megève this year and the place to sip champagne and dance in your ski boots while taking in the amazing vista
