School Gate Style

School Gate Stylefeatured

I love the start of a new term. Big D is always super-excited at catching up with all her besties and I get to see all the lovely mummies at the school gates. After exchanging post-holiday chit-chat, attention quickly turned to the important topic of what’s the mummy uniform this fall, who’s wearing what? There are some seriously glammy mummies around my neighborhood, so getting #fashinspo is pretty easy.

I have to admit, getting myself glammed up in the a.m. is an unattainable feat, so quite often I’ll drop-off in my gym gear, even if I’m heading straight back home (did I just admit that?).

Having checked out what’s trending at the gates, I’ve put together 4 styled looks to help keep your Mummy-cool this fall.

I hope you love them – and if you have any photos or suggestions of your own, let me know!

1.The Mid-Western Mummy

  1. Gap – 1969 deep indigo always jeans, £44.95
  2. Ash – Ivana boot, £175.00
  3. Rails – Hunter Shirt in White/Jade, £135.00 available at Trilogy

I’ve been lusting after a Rails plaid shirt for a while and have held off over Summer as it wasn’t quite the look for Marbella! But now I can’t wait to get my hands on one of their latest arrivals – love, love, love! Gap denim is just fab and such great value for day-to-day wear. I’ve already invested in these Ash boots for Autumn and I’m loving them. The colour is great and goes with just about everything in my wardrobe. You may be questioning my choice of heel, but I’m fairly petite and sometimes I like a bit of a height to give me a lift. I can comfortably be in these boots all day, so I might be really naughty and see if I can get them in black too.

2.The Too Cool For School Mummy

  1. Russell & Bromley – Sneak peep slip-on sneaker, £145.00
  2. Zoe Karssen – Loose fit Raglan sweat, £102.00
  3. J Brand –  photo ready skinny jeans in night-bird £220.00, available at Donna Ida

I’m all about the slogan trend, and for me this Zoe Karssen sweater says it all – especially when you have two little lovelies in tow! I’m not sure I was ever truly rock-and-roll pre-kids, but my little ones are my biggest fans, so I guess I’m a bit of a rock star in their eyes (…for the time being).

If you could only have one pair of jeans, these J Brands are the pair. I would choose them every time – seriously, they’re worth every penny! I’ve raved about them before in my Mummy’s Got Style blog –  they hold you in and push you up in all the right places!

For footwear, I like these funked up Vans style lux trainers from Russell & Bromley, great for running around town.

3.The Multi-Tasking Mummy

  1. Whistles – Helena Crepe Track Pants, £120.00
  2. Cos – Drawstring Merino Jumper, £59.00
  3. Boden – Scallop Point £62.10

If I have meetings before I pick up Big D from nursery, I turn to my trusted pair of Crepe track pants. The fabric looks smart enough to pass as a more formal trouser, whilst being versatile enough to let me get down with the kids (They have an elasticated waste (Sport Lux, darling! (so comfy!)).

I love a fine-knit sweater and camel is my absolute favorite fall colour, – so it was instant love when I spotted this cheeky number in Cos.

Animal print is big this season, so go wild with these fab Chloe-esq scalloped point pumps.

3. The Breton Babe Mummy

  1. New Balance – 70’s Running 410 £55.00
  2. J Brand Jeans – ginger crop in jungle £230.00, available at Trilogy (Zara also do some great cheaper versions!
  3. The White Company – Cross Back T-Shirt – White/Navy £40.00

Everyone loves the chic stripes of the “Breton’ top. Kate Middleton wore hers to the polo, while Olivia Palermo throws hers on to run errands in NYC. Fact: this Mummy staple is super-wearable and looks fab in any season. I particularly love the back detail of this season’s offering from The White Company. Team with some green skinny’s and slim-line New Balance trainers for a winning mum-on-the-run look.

If you have any style tips please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you.

Happy Fashionable Fall, friends.

Love Mummy B
