As the landscape of our lives change, we need things to bond us together. Nothing does this quite like honoring your child with a special relationship with one of your greatest and most trusted lifelong friends.
Little D’s Christening was an intimate affair, celebrated with just close family and godparents. We are so fortunate to have wonderful friends around us who make occasions like this so wonderful.
The service was held at the beautiful Chelsea Old Church, followed by an afternoon tea reception at home. The service was beautiful and the church breathtaking. There was a wonderful spread of cakes, delicious wine and lots of fun. Little D shone like a bright star on her special day and loved the opportunity to be the centre of attention.
We invested in a rather special gown in Spain when we christened Big D, knowing that we would use it again and hoping that it would become an heirloom for generations to come. (The Spanish have wonderful clothes generally for children. Neck & Neck on Duke of York Square is a particular favorite. Harrods and Rachel Riley are great for christening gowns.)
After the long slog of January’s fitness drive, I treated myself to a new dress from Maje, one of my favorite stores to pick up something a little more special. I love their clothes for their feminine design and structured styles. Teamed with my favorite Prada heels (last years Mothers’ Day gift, a special treat from Big D for being pregnant with Little D at the time), I felt Duchess ready!
One of life’s perfect days to remember!
