Transitional styling (avoid a fall fashion fail)

Transitional styling (avoid a fall fashion fail)featured

Autumn is my favorite season in London, and I must confess to being one of those people who wishes the tail end of Summer away so I can pull on my jeans and cosy knits and bed-in for the colder months. Transitional dressing’s a bit of a sartorial minefield, especially having spent most of August in just shorts or a bikini.

While temperatures jump around more than Little D and my new norm of being a school-run-mum sets in, I’ve had to carefully consider my wardrobe choices. I’ve been taking a keen interest in what the appropriate mummy uniform is, and I think I’ve nailed it with these five key “go to” items to navigate us fashionably through fall.

The Military Jacket

A laid back, understated cool but super-wearable piece.  Looks great teamed with a simple Tee and jeans or plaid shirt. Perfect for casual days but also can be funked up for evenings with a tee dress and ankle boots.

Zara Cropped Parker Jacket – £55.00 (Love the Quote!)

Kate Moss for Equipment Major Shirt Jacket in Army, available from Trilogy – £445.00

Only Parker Jacket, available from ASOS – £45.99

Sleeveless Coat – Transitional Triumph

This is a great piece for all ages and can hide a multitude of sins so on one of those days when I feel like I want to hide a little this is my go-to item that instantly streamlines an outfit and keeps me at a comfortable temperature. Team it with a thin long sleeve knit, jeans and trainers in the day and a blouse and heels come the night.

Zara Long Waistcoat in Grey Marl – £89.99 (Editors Choice)

Helen Berman Waistcoat in Navy with Fur Trim Collar, Available at Trilogy – £195.00

MO & Co Long Woolen Vest – $400.00

Grey Sweatshirt

An essential item of your capsule wardrobe. The grey sweatshirt is a hero for comfy casual days but can also be glammed up with a very on trend ruffle skirt. Mixing ultra-feminine with tom-boy cool is especially on point.

Maje Tilda Sweatshirt – £175.00

Topshop Jersey Ruffle Sweatshirt – £30.00

The FMLY Store Grey MOTHER Sweatshirt MS x Tiba + Marl – £45.00

Trainers

An essential on the school run for me as I can now be found scooting around SW6 chasing after Big D. Having never really classed myself as a trainer girl (I suffer with #shortgirlproblems), it has taken me five years of pavement pounding with the pram to feel totally at one with my paired back sporty style.

Gucci Watersnake-Trimmed Leather Sneaker, available at Net- a-Porter, £355.00 (Fashionistas Pick)

Ash Majestic Star Motif Trainer, available from Katie & J0 – £168.00

& Other Stories Star Burst Sneakers – £89.00

Graphic T-Shirt

I love a Tee both by day and night. Dressed up with a mid-length pleated skirt and heels for a laid back luxe look with a bit of an edge and then work it into your everyday capsule wardrobe with mum jeans and trainers. Perfect for layering this time of year with a military or bomber jacket.

Whistles Tres Jolie Striped T-Shirt, £45.00

Claudie Pierlot Transe T-Shirt, £69.00

Topshop Coca Cola T-Shirt, £22.00

Hope you like the Autumn Look. Whatever you wear, I’m sure you’ll rock it.
