Let’s hear it for the Daddies! Not only are they working their socks off, they’re pulling up their sleeves and getting fully involved with their children. There’s no rest for the with-kids, as more parents tag-team their way through parenthood: team work makes the dream work!
I’m constantly blown away at how amazing Daddy B is with the girls – there’s literally nothing he won’t do for them. Thread a daisy chain (check), sing-a-long Frozen (check), sleep on their floor when they’re scared (check) – the list goes on. Which is why I want to make Father’s Day a day of fun, love, appreciation and just a little indulgence.
Here are Mummy B’s top 10 picks for Father’s Day for gentleman with a little style to show them a lot of love.
1. Remember the Anya Hindmarch Be a Bag campaign? Orlebar Brown are doing the same for swimwear #snapshorts. You can now wear your own print to the pool. You can use a beautiful post-holiday shot, maybe a honeymoon pic to remind them of those child-free lazy days basking in the sunshine or even have your child’s artwork turned into the next designer print trend. At £395 this service does not come cheap but if it’s a case of what do you buy the man that has everything, this may solve your problem. OB guarantee their shorts for five years so he should get a few holidays out of them!
2. As I browsed Fenwicks a couple of weeks ago, this rather smart Bond-style briefcase-with-a-surprise caught my eye. Possibly the chicest portable BBQ known to man. Forget stopping by the nearest Esso garage to pick up a tinfoil disposable disappointment, when you can be the alpha male hero of the BBQ scene. I’m picturing Don Draper pulling up at the races and casually grilling chateaubriand on one of these bad boys. Mon Oncle portable barbecue set from Spanish design company RS Barcelona, available online at Trouva for £298.00.
3. As parents we all have days where we need to keep the shades on to cover up those tired eyes, so why not gift these classically cool aviators style shades by Taylor Morris. Inspired by an old photo of one their favorite actors, Robert Redford, on the set of cult classic “Butch Cassidy and The Sun dance Kid”. £150.00
We’re a little bit obsessed with digitally recording life’s most precious moments with our kids. This state of the art Olympus Pen digital camera looks the bomb and is small enough to take everywhere. Equipped with a flip and tilt LCD touch screen for those father/kid selfies and built in wi-fi so that you can pop it on Instagram in and instant to share the moment if that’s your thing. Available at Jessops, £399.00
Fitting exercise into our all ready busy lives can be a challenge but this smart fitbit might me the answer to a fitter, healthier happier husband. It may also encourage them to pound the pavements with the pram and give you a little rest? £179.99.
A man’s bonce is one of the most exposed to sun damage and after my sister’s scare last year (Wear Sunscreen), I’m all about looking after ourselves while enjoying sunshine. Channeling Humphrey Bogart, I bought this hat for Daddy B this year to protect his head from the sun. Since the 17th Century, Lock & Co. Hatters of Jermyn Street have been making the most wonderful men’s hats (from Admiral Lord Nelson to David Beckham!). This classic super-stylish Panama will be a holiday staple for years to come. Lock & Co £235.00.
Who doesn’t want their huzbuz to smell like a fresh lemon grove in Capri? This is my favorite scent for Summer. Available at Space NK, from £61.00.
A good day starts with good coffee, so why not gift some extra special personalised brew to fire the big guy up for the day. A mega mum boss and friend set up Novello with her sister. They have big plans for their ever growing product range – so watch this space, there’s much more to come! Available at Not on the High Street, £10.50.
For the wine lover, a simple beautiful bottle or case of rosé should hit the spot. I love nothing more than relaxing on a Summer’s evening throwing back a delicious cold glass of Domaines Ott (a real treat) in the garden while chatting about the girls. (Why is it that rosé only seems like a good idea when the sun’s shining?) Available at Majestic Wines, £32.50.
Last but not least, why not spell it out across his chest with one of these cool T-Shirts, or sweatshirts as seen in the featured image from The FMLY Store, a new shop from the Selfish Mother selling fun slogan #GoodTees raising money for charities. £10 is donated per T-Shirt and £15 per sweatshirt and to date they have raised £188K – which is AMAZING! Tee’s are £30.00 and Sweatshirts £45.00.
I hope I’ve given you a few ideas. Have a happy Fathers Day celebrating.
Love Mummy B
