The Lakes by Yoo – A Cotswolds Treat

The Lakes by Yoo – A Cotswolds Treatfeatured

With holiday season well and truly over, what better time to plan another break? I adore City life, but escaping to the countryside with the children is the perfect tonic to the bustle of the Capital.

This Summer, we were fortunate to stay at a friend’s beautiful holiday home, nestled in the stunning Cotswolds water park, The Lakes by Yoo. I can’t imagine a more wonderful place to while away a weekend.

We passed through the super smart gates into a world of nature and quiet calm (apart from the D twosome who were beside themselves with excitement and didn’t care who heard it!).

The holiday home was breathtaking, clean lines and Scandinavian-cool interiors. The best thing though was the view. Each room has vast floor-to-ceiling windows that open out on to the lake, which is right there, in touching distance. Looking out I felt a deep calm as the stresses of London life dissipated.

What makes the Lakes even more amazing are the facilities – stylish swimming pool, spa, tennis courts, gym, a kids club where Ben Fogle occasionally runs a forestry school and a concierge that will be happy to arrange just about any activity for you. There’s even in-house catering and a babysitting service available. What more could a girl ask for?!

But, if busying yourself within the 650 acre private estate isn’t enough, there’s plenty to see and do in this part of the World. You’re just 30 mins from Cheltenham, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton, and only 15 mins from Cirencester.

The girls splashed around in the pool to their hearts’ content (Big D had a breakthrough with her swimming and was able to swim the breadth of the pool unaided!!).  I later escaped to the spa to be pampered with a divine facial.

Reaching ultra-levels of relaxation as Morcheeba gently lulled me to into a semi-hypnotic state, I decided that this is the perfect retreat for a staycation.

My wonderful friend gets to do just that as it’s her home away from home. But thankfully she also rents it out so that other families can enjoy waking to those views, ramble around the grounds, kayak the lake and and enjoy time away relaxing.

If you’d be interested in taking some time out to have a fabulous trip to the Lakes, go through Our friends’ house is called Longcross Waters, and it’s the best one (although I may be biased :-))
