A Pretty Perfect Picnic

A Pretty Perfect Picnicfeatured

Big D’s loving picnics at the moment. Come rain or shine (and let’s face it it’s been a total wash out of late), we can be found having a picnic even if it’s just in our back garden. I’m happy to embrace this wonderful summer tradition as I love picking at a colorful selection of food and I’m finding that the girls are more inclined to eat the healthy stuff in the great outdoors.

There’s nothing original about my perfect picnic spread – just simple healthy food that can be made in a jiffy and packed up. It’s so easy these days to pick up processed food in the super market and that’s ok sometimes, but if you’re dining al fresco as much as we are, I try to keep things clean. Chicken, hummus, edamame beans, crudites and cous cous, followed by strawberries – ’tis the season after all.

So while I was thinking about my rather average picnic set up – a gingham cloth and some primary coloured tupperware,  I thought to myself….CDB (could do better)! Here are a few picnic pieces that will surely make any picnic pretty.

We love polka dots in our house and Toot Sweet do such a lovely selection of paper plates, cups and napkins. Available from Amazon from £5.00.

I love the romance of a picnic basket basket and this one from The White Company ticks all my boxes. On sale now £42.00.

GAHBP_95_MAINWhen I first had Big D I was given a picnic blanket and at the time I admit I thought it was a little odd as it was mid-Winter and wasn’t a baby grow or some kind of baby paraphernalia. But as soon as Spring sprung I quickly realised this was one of the best gifts I’d received. Lazy, sunny days rolling around in the parks with my beautiful bouncing baby were the best. Everyone needs a good picnic rug and these Tolly McRae ones are an investment. Available from Not On The High Street, from£99.00.

If you need a quick packed lunch to throw under the pram, look no further than Yum Box, £24.95.

IMG_5268I couldn’t write a post about the perfect picnic without showcasing a Fortnum & Masons hamper. This quintessentially English masterpiece is one to dream about. Not very practical with little ones, but one day you might find me in Regents Park sitting back relaxing… a lady can dream can’t she? Priced at £550.00.2144439--Thumbnail

Cheers everyone! Have a lovely Summer.

Love Mummy B
