So apparently London is now the fitness capital of the world: move over L.A.! As I walk round my neighborhood I can believe it. Gym wear has become the ubiquitous every day staple in the mummy uniform being touted around South West London. It’s an easy, comfortable look that can even look pretty glam (although not on me…you’ve seen my video). I’m more a head-to-toe in black kind of girl, but there’s nothing more motivating when it comes to exercise than some new gym threads.
The high street and new small active-wear labels are capitalising on this fitness frenzy and we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to getting our kit on! Here are a few picks for the minted and skinted (it has just been Christmas after all)!
First up is Varley – Designed in L.A. and crafted in London. This lifestyle brand is killing it with it’s Californian coolness and London edge. I particularly love this marble inspired outfit! I’d feel as cool as Kendall Jenner in these togs – which might just encourage me to run a little longer on the tread mill. Gym tights from £70.00 and tops from £45.00.
Nike needs no intro – they just keep doing it. Great looks, excellent quality and all at great prices. I really love the monochrome look below. Quake tights £35.00, TRS print trainers £95.00 and the pro tank top £35.00.
SukiShufu is a luxe active-ware brand worn my the likes of Millie Mackintosh, my guilty instagram gym porn. As I mentioned in my last vlog, I may never have the fine form of that gym bunny, but I can at least wear the same togs. Bottoms from £80.00 and Tees from £70.00. This outfit makes me want to break out my inner Jane Fonda!
Mind the Gap – this new fit range for 2016 is full of sleek designs and flattering styles for your new active lifestyle. Again, I’m drawn to the monochrome designs as I know these tend to be the most flattering for my figure, but I love a love a little colour pop. The strappy fluro sports bra (£22.95) is almost too cool to hide which is why this mesh racer vest (£24.95) makes the perfect team. Leggings priced at £39.95.
Last Christmas I got a great book called Clean & Lean Diet by James Duigan, personal trainer to Elle Macpherson. He now has a private gym, supplement range sold in Space NK and, the latest, a new active-wear line called Bodyism. Leggings priced at £130.00 and tops from £70.00 all available on net-a-porter. He also has a pregnancy fitness video, book and supplements for all those mums to be!
If none of these styles or brands are luring you to get fit and fabulous then why not check out M&S’s new sporty range. I was blown away when I saw it being showcased in the store. Sadly, my size had been snapped up in just about every item. It’s also always fun to pop in to Sweaty Betty whose styles never disappoint.
If you’ve come across any emerging brands that you want to share let me know or if you have any fitness tips please don’t keep them to yourself.
